Joyce H. Myerly

Joyce H. Myerly (nee Hollinger), 95, of Oberlin, died April 10, 2024 at Kendal at Oberlin.  She was born September 9, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, attended Westminster High School in Westminster, MD and graduated from Hood College, Frederick, MD in 1948.  At the age of 7 she survived polio with very minor long-term effects.  Joyce and her husband, Richard, had lived in Charleston, WV, Canaan Valley, WV and Hendersonville, NC before moving to Kendal at Oberlin in 2009.  She was a church organist and loved playing anything with keys.  Richard, whose hobby was woodworking, had built her a 2-manual harpsichord and a 4 rank pipe organ.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking, weaving, needle point and cross-stitch. 

Joyce is survived by her son, Richard C. (Ellen) Myerly, Jr. of Westlake; granddaughters, Alyssa and Jillian Myerly and a brother, Byron (Pat) Hollinger of Westminster, MD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Myerly in 2016; parents, Kenneth and Katherine Hollinger and a brother, Ray Hollinger.
